How long is the program?
Part-Time programs are contracted for 30 weeks. Learners that choose to do the online program are encouraged to apply their time diligently to obtaining their theory hours (300) and then they will be quickly brought into the clinic floor to finish their practical hours (300).
What is the age criteria to become a nail tech?
Learners can begin acquiring their manicure hours at the age of 16 and at least a 10th grade education.
Do I need to send my transcripts?
Yes. We need legitimate proof that you have graduated from high school, received a GED, or high school equivalency. We can not accept a copy of your degree or diploma.
Do you accept financial aid and are you accredited?
The Black Pearl Nail Academy is not accredited and therefore ineligible to accept financial aid (FAFSA) or any other government funding, however we are a National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences (NACCAS) candidate. The Black Pearl Nail Academy is certified and approved by the State of Tennessee Board of Cosmetology and Barber Examiners which provides licensure. ACCREDITATION IS NOT NECESSARY FOR LICENSURE!

Do you have payment options or payment plans?
Yes, we do. Payment plans vary based on part-time enrollment (30 weeks). We no longer offer full-time enrollment.
Tuition payments are due based on the date of your orientation.
Monthly payments $625.00 x 8 payments
Biweekly payments $333.34 x 15 payments
Weekly payments $166.67 x 30 payments
Tuition is $5,000 for 600 hours ($8.33/Credit Hour), application, enrollment fee, kits, books & supplies equal $1,600 for a total of $6,600. If you choose to use Affirm your total payment is $7,000
Your spot in class is not confirmed until your application fee and supporting documents are received.
What days and hours are classes?
Classroom hours are Monday – Thursday from 9am to 2pm and two mandatory Saturdays per month. We do not offer evening classes.

Can I make payments on my tuition?
Students are more than welcome to make payments on their tuition and/or kits ahead of time. We also accept Affirm After Pay for tuition and Kit payments. All payments will be receipted and bound to the student contract for refund requests and/or reimbursements.
I went to another school. Can I transfer my hours to The Black Pearl Nail Academy?
If you have obtained hours at another cosmetology or manicure school and have not completed the program or tested for state board, you are allowed to transfer to The Black Pearl Nail Academy. The amount of hours that we can accept are determined by the students comprehensive understanding of the curriculum that he/she has learned. Transfers can only be done after the student has been withdrawn from their previous school for 7 business days. The hours that the student has accumulated will have to be verified by the Tennessee State Board of Cosmetology and they must acquire transcripts from their last institution to be accepted by The Black Pearl Nail Academy. If you have obtained hours from another state they have to be approved through the Tennessee State Board of Cosmetology for reciprocity.
